Yakama Nation Fisheries has completed a Fit-In-the-Field design for an instream habitat and floodplain reconnection project on the Dry Creek RM 1.8-3.8, tributary to the Wind River on Gifford Pinchot National Forest USFS land in Skamania County. This Fit-In-the-Field design, will guide instream and riparian wood enrichment, constructed margin jams, and removal of a spoil pile within the floodplain. These efforts aim to encourage natural wood accumulation, bank erosion for wood recruitment, and activation of floodplains, side channels, and alcove habitat to improve habitat for Lower-Columbia Steelhead for both juvenile rearing and adult spawning. In total this restoration aims to restore 2 miles of stream which will include 1.4 miles of off-channel stream reconnected, 20 acres of off-channel habitat reconnected, and 8 instream pools created.
