Yakama Nation Harvest Management

Under the Treaty of 1855, the Yakama Nation reserved the right to fish, hunt and gather and other rights at all usual and accustomed places. This includes the preservation of fish habitat at all usual and accustomed fishing places. 

The Yakama Nation manages fisheries resources to ensure continued access by Yakama members to fulfill their ceremonial, subsistence and commercial needs.  This treaty reserved right includes the right to have fish present to harvest, at all usual and accustomed places.

The Fish & Wildlife Committee authorize additional gillnet fishing opportunity in Zone 6 of the Columbia River from 6am Mon July 15 to 6pm July 17, 2024 with NO Mesh restriction. See attached regulations for details.

The Fish & Wildlife Committee have authorized 2 additional summer gillnet openings in Zone 6 of the Columbia River from 6am Mon July 1 to 6pm Thurs July 4 and 6am Mon July 8 to 6pm Weds July 10, 2024.  See regulations memo attached.

The Fish & Wildlife Committee has authorized lamprey harvest at Willamette Falls according to the regulations on the attached Permit.

The first two Commercial Summer Gillnet Openings have been set for 6am Monday June 17 to 6pm Weds June 19 and 6am Monday June 24 to 6pm Thursday June 27, 2024. Commercial sales also open 6am Monday June 17.  See attached regs for full details.

The Fish & Wildlife Committee authorize weekly openings on the Icicle RIver from 5am Thursdays to 9pm Saturdays effective May 23, 2024.  See the attached regulations for full details.

The Spring Chinook run has been updated to 122,400 returning to the mouth of the Columbia River.
